Tutorial: How To Create Effie Trinket Inspired Nails

Hey Cupcakes :)
Its time for another nail art tutorial and this time it's inspired by Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games. I saw the movie a couple off weeks ago and I really liked her nails. I thought I would try to re-create her nails from the movie. If you want to learn how to create these fun Effie Trinket inspired nails, just keep reading :)

♥ 1. Start off by applying a base coat to protect your nails.

♥ 2. Paint your nails with a medium dark fuchsia nail polish.

♥ 3. After your nails have completely dried, take a gold nail polish and a makeup sponge, and create a gold gradient.

♥ 4. Sponge the first layer off gold nail polish two thirds off the way down your nails. Now, sponge a second layer half down your nails and finally a third layer only on the tip off your nails.

♥ 5. Add a layer off fine glitter nail polish to complete the gradient. Since I don't have one in my collection, I decided to make one myself. If you want to see a DIY post on how you can create your very own glitter nail polish, let me know in the comments below.

♥ 6. Finish with a top coat to protect your design from chipping away. Now your design is finished and you can rock your Effie Trinket inspired nails :)

Products I used:
♥ NYX Ridge Filler Base Coat.
♥ Wet n' Wild Nail Polish in FuchsiaRama
♥ Fine Glitter Nail Polish created by me.

I actually don't like how my design turned out. It was really difficult to get the gold gradient to look exactly like I wanted it to look like and it was also my first time using a makeup sponge. But I guess it turned out okay, I definitely need more practice :)

Have you seen The Hunger Games? What do you think about the nail design? Thanks for looking :) Xoxo, Christine♥

  3. I disagree, I think this is a gorgeous look! I think the messier gradiants are just as wearable as the precise, neat ones. The gold really pops with that fuschia, I will definitely be giving this a go soon. x
