I have some sad news for those of you who use Google Friend Connect (GFC) to follow my blog and keep yourself updated on my blog posts. Google has decided to deactivate GFC for non-blogger hosted blogs and they are doing that as of the 1st of March 2012.
I have no idea if Google will remove the GFC widget for good but I think they are making a big mistake if they do it. I decided to put together this blog post to let you guys know about this change. We just have to be patient and see what will happen to our beloved widget, lets hope for the best :)
Here are a few options for you to still follow my blog and keep yourself updated :)
I just signed up on Hellocotton and its a great way to keep track on all the blogs you like. All you have to do is connect with your Facebook account or create a new one which is super easy and free. You don't have to have a blog to create an account on Hellocotton :)
To follow my blog, just click on the little ''Follow'' button on the right side. All the updates from the blogs you follow will show up in your Hellocotton newsfeed :) Click here to follow my Hellocotton profile.
bloglovin is basically the same thing as Hellocotton. To follow my bloglovin page, just click on the follow button and login to your account or create a new one :) Click here to follow bloglovin profile.
You can ''Like'' my Facebook page to keep yourself updated on my newest posts as well along with pictures and other fun updates. My newest blog posts will always be shared on my page and its a great way to keep in touch too :) Click here to follow my Facebook Page.
To follow my blog by Email, just look on the right side of my blog and scroll down until you see the ''Follow My Blog By Email'' section and type in your email adress, hit submit and thats it. Now you will recieve an email everytime I publish a new post :)
Twitter is another great way to stay connected with me and keep yourself updated on my latest blog posts. Its definitely more personal so if you want to get to know me more, please add me because I would love for us to be friends :) Click here to follow me on Twitter.
Thank you so much for all your love, support and also for leaving me so many amazing comments. You guys are amazing and I really hope that you will keep following me if GFC disappear.
What do you think about Google deactivating the GFC widget for non-blogger hosted blogs?
Thanks for looking :) Xoxo, Christine♥
:O awww shocking
ReplyDeleteI really hate that they are doing that! I will end up adding blogs to my RSS feed in google reader which makes it so much easier to follow blogs. I tend to miss posts on twitter and facebook
ReplyDeletebut it says non-blogger hosted blogs and our blogs are hosted by blogger can you please explain the defination of non-blogger hosted blogs?
ReplyDeleteHold on, I'm confused. You're blog is hosted on blogspot which owned by google ? So how can we not be able to follow you through it??
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know it's only the non blogspot blogs which will have the widget removed.
ReplyDelete@SadeeStyle What I think it means is that you can only follow blogs through GFC if you have a Blogspot account yourself. Those who follow GFC through Twitter, Facebook, etc cant do that anymore!
ReplyDelete@Sidrah!!!! I really wish they didn't do it. Maybe they will change their mind, lets hope so :)
ReplyDelete@AdmiralBiatch What I think it means is that you can only follow blogs through GFC if you have a Blogspot account yourself. Those who follow with GFC through Twitter, Facebook, etc cant do that anymore! It sucks :/
ReplyDelete@DawnieP Im keeping my fingers crossed that they change their mind. I dont see why
ReplyDeletethey have to remove it? :)
Does this mean that the bar at the very top of everyone's blogs that has functions such as 'Follow, Share, Report Abuse and Next Blog' is going to be taken away or is it something else?

I am also a bit confused with their policies too. I've always had a blogspot account, but then purchased my own domain. Now what? Guess will find out. No sweat. Would love to follow you through bloglovin.

ReplyDeletewhy are they going to do this ?? this is non-sense !
ReplyDelete@Terri I only think its the GFC widget that will be removed but Im not sure :/
ReplyDelete@Girlie Blogger I guess we will find out soon, lets hope they decide to keep it. I dont see why they are removing it, makes no sense to me :/
ReplyDelete@Rakhshanda Me too, Im keeping my fingers crossed :)
ReplyDelete@Chiara I have no idea why they have decided to do it, I completely agree with you. I really hope they change their minds
ReplyDelete@Mia Im not sure if they will remove the widget for good or keep it but I think you can only follow blogs through GFC if you have a Blogspot account yourself. Which means that those who follow with GFC through Twitter, Facebook, etc cant do that anymore!
ReplyDeleteFollowing you on Bloglovin, Hellocotton and Twitter. I'm trying to get used to these sites instead of GFC x
